Use this starter to build a private App showing open work, owners, and status counts. Copy the prompt into Apps, try the fictional records, and check the preview before replacing the sample with real data.

## What you are working toward

A private App preview with a filterable work table and status totals.

## Start with

- A list of work items with ID, owner, status, and due date

- A definition of overdue and complete

- The viewers and actions the App should support

## Build the smallest useful version

Copy the prompt into Apps and use the fictional records for the first version. Explain what the user needs to decide from the screen. Ask for a preview and requirement checks before adding more features.

This starter is a brief and dataset, not a deployed application or a one-click import. Paste it into Workspace yourself. Adding a real spreadsheet later does not imply that future spreadsheet changes synchronize automatically.

## Test the numbers and the interactions

Check the three expected counts, apply the Maya filter, and clear it. Try an empty result and a record with missing data. If the App allows edits, reload it and verify the behavior promised by the build.

Review the preview on desktop and phone-sized screens. Ask for fixes to labels, keyboard access, or incorrect filters in the App conversation. Use saved build history to choose the version you want, then decide whether private sharing or public publication fits the data.

## Try this prompt

Copy into Apps. Opening Workspace does not send it automatically.

```text
Build a private operations dashboard from these fictional records. Show a filterable table, status counts, and an owner filter. Use statuses Open, In progress, Done. Treat a missing due date as Unknown and never infer one. Show the source update date. Explain whether changes persist after reload and verify the behavior. Do not publish.
Sample records:
OP-1 | Maya | Open | no due date | Gather product photos
OP-2 | Ravi | In progress | no due date | Review page designs
OP-3 | Maya | Done | no due date | Approve website copy
Expected initial counts: Open 1, In progress 1, Done 1. Ask me for the source update date.
```

## Illustrative result

Fictional sample; your result depends on your inputs and needs review.

```text
Fictional sample checks
All records: 3
Open: 1 · In progress: 1 · Done: 1
Owner Maya: 2 records
Unknown due dates: 3
No overdue count should be invented from missing dates.
```

## Before using the result

- Initial counts match the three sample rows.

- Owner filters can be applied and cleared.

- Unknown due dates stay unknown.

- Edit persistence matches the stated behavior after reload.

- The result is private until you choose otherwise.

## Common questions

### Can I build an App from a spreadsheet or idea?

Yes. Open Apps and describe the user, inputs, and actions you need. Start with sample data, inspect the private preview, try the main actions on large and small screens, and ask for changes before sharing or publishing.

### Are Apps and files public as soon as I create them?

Creating or previewing an App does not publish it. Private sharing requires recipients to sign in. Publish only when you want a public link, and review the data included in the result. Manage private sharing in Shared.
