A practical Workspace guide
An AI workspace for VC research and portfolio work.
Venture capital (VC) teams can use Clanker Cloud Workspace to organize permitted company documents, prepare source-based deal briefs and diligence questions, and assemble portfolio updates. Keep each company’s current facts and saved work in its Project, then reuse a research or reporting method through custom Agents. Review source claims and calculations before using the output in a team discussion or decision.

Give the research a clear data boundary
Choose permitted sources for each company and use the current access and sharing controls. ZDR, data residency and encryption are coming soon. The trust center explains the planned scope separately from the current service.

Choose a bounded research or portfolio task
Use the evidence you actually have. A founder statement, a company export, a public source, and an independently checked fact should remain distinguishable in the brief.
| VC workflow | Bring | Save and review |
|---|---|---|
| Deal meeting preparation | Permitted deck, meeting notes, and research questions | A company brief with source references, claims to verify, and follow-up questions. |
| Diligence organization | Approved documents, metric definitions, and a question checklist | An evidence table identifying answered, conflicting, and unanswered items. |
| Portfolio review | Dated company updates and explicit metric definitions | A review pack with periods and currencies preserved; flag non-comparable figures. |
| Portfolio operations | A company-approved operating brief and source packet | A process document, customer-research brief, or operating handoff for review. |
Reuse the research method, not another company’s facts
Create a Project for the company or review process and select its exact source packet. Keep stable research questions and evidence rules in an Agent’s instructions or Skills. Avoid putting confidential company-specific facts into a reusable Agent’s general reference knowledge.
Use Projects to organize separate company contexts, and use the account’s access and sharing controls to choose who can work with them. Select the permitted source files and intended recipients for each task.
Keep the source and its status visible
Ask for a source map showing where each consequential statement came from and which period it describes. Record conflicts rather than choosing a convenient number. Label company-reported metrics and keep them separate from interpretations or independent verification.
Preserve units, currencies, definitions, and missing values. Customer counts alone do not establish retention. A period’s total revenue does not by itself establish recurring revenue. Do not invent absent cohort, cash, contract, or approval data.
Save a brief people can interrogate
Ask for a named brief and a supporting evidence table or workbook. Review the actual saved files. A short presentation can summarize a checked analysis, but its claims and numbers must agree with the supporting sources.
When new information arrives, add a dated correction and revise every dependent table, summary, and slide. Attach the reviewed versions and open questions to a Planner task for the next authorized person. Sending questions to a founder or sharing a brief requires a separate deliberate action.

Build a role around your review checklist
Configure a deal-brief Agent, diligence-question Agent, or portfolio-update Agent with a narrow role and selected Tools. Test the role on a known source packet, a missing fact, conflicting information, and a later correction. Keep the team’s judgment and approval process explicit.
Workspace prepares material for your team to inspect. It does not independently verify a company because a document was uploaded, grant data-room access, or make an investment decision. Compatible external assistants can use authorized Workspace tools; confirm their current client support and permissions.

Try a fictional deal-brief packet
The VC research starter includes reported metrics, source notes, and a later correction. Its authored checks reward preserving missing information and updating dependent claims. No generated memo, customer result, investment recommendation, or Agent performance is claimed.
Use the packet to judge source fidelity and review effort. Then test a different approved packet before deciding whether the method is useful for your own work.

Before you use the result.
- Every consequential claim has a source and evidence status.
- Periods, currencies, definitions, and missing values remain visible.
- The brief does not turn an unverified claim into a checked fact.
- Corrections reach every dependent output; sharing access is reviewed separately.
Common questions.
Can a VC team use AI to prepare diligence material in Workspace?
Yes. Use permitted documents to prepare a sourced brief, evidence table, and unanswered questions. Review the actual saved work. Uploading a document does not verify its claims or authorize additional data access.
Can I reuse a portfolio-update Agent across companies?
Reuse the role, method, and review checklist while selecting the correct Project and current inputs for each company. Keep confidential company facts out of general reusable knowledge and check access and sharing policies.
