A practical Workspace guide

Give Gemini a project workspace in the cloud.

Use Gemini with Clanker Cloud in the way that fits your work: choose an available Gemini model inside Workspace, connect an eligible Gemini app through a custom MCP app, or configure Gemini CLI for the hosted Workspace server. Keep the Project files, useful instructions, and saved work together so the next task has somewhere to start.

Start with $20 in included credits. See usage and plans.

Keep your assistant. Choose where the work lives.

Use your connected assistant when you want to keep that conversation and work with permitted Clanker Project files and tools. Start directly in Workspace when you want a Clanker Session and a reusable Agent in your browser.

Use Projects for continuing context and saved work. Configure hosted Loops or Schedules separately for recurring execution. Check Clanker-hosted usage and any external assistant subscription when planning costs. ZDR, data residency and encryption are coming soon.

Choose how you want to work with Gemini

The native Workspace model choice, Gemini’s custom-app connection, and Gemini CLI are different entry points. Choose one, then start with a small Project task.

Start directly in Workspace with Gemini

Open a Session in the Project you want to work on and choose an available Gemini model from the model menu. Add the files and ask for a report, research brief, spreadsheet, or other supported output.

This route uses Clanker’s available models and Workspace tools. Current model choices and features follow your account settings; hosted AI work and compute use Clanker credits.

Connect an eligible Gemini app

Google currently limits web custom apps to adult personal accounts in the United States, in English, with Keep Activity enabled. Check Google’s current requirements before choosing this route.

In Gemini’s Connected Apps settings, add a custom app with https://workspace.clankercloud.ai/mcp. Continue through browser authorization in Clanker, then enable the custom app for your conversation. You can select it with @ when giving Gemini a task.

Bring Gemini CLI to the cloud workspace

Use the hosted HTTP configuration in the connection guide and authenticate with /mcp auth clanker. The published example starts with read access; add other permissions when the work requires them.

Use the CLI to work from the Project sources and leave the finished brief, table, or file in Workspace. Your local CLI is the client; the Project and enabled Workspace tools are the cloud work environment.

Give Gemini one useful Project job

Choose a source-based task such as comparing two proposals, preparing a client update, or turning notes into a research brief. Name the required output and ask Gemini to save it in the Project.

Open the actual result in Workspace, ask for a revision if needed, and save a short handoff with the files and next questions. The starting prompt below is for connected Gemini; paste it into your Workspace Session instead when using the native model route.

Build on the work you want to repeat

Keep useful findings, source context, and approved outputs with the Project. Create a custom Agent when you want a reusable method, or configure a Clanker Schedule or Loop for recurring execution.

A connected Gemini client and a hosted recurring Clanker worker are separate choices. Select the tools and environment for the job you are asking to run.

Give your assistant its first Workspace task.

Open Gemini

Copy into Gemini with your Workspace connection enabled. Opening Gemini does not send the prompt automatically.

Before you use the result.

  • The chosen Gemini route is available to your account.
  • The task uses the intended Project and current source files.
  • The saved result and handoff are ready to review in Workspace.

Common questions.

Yes. Select an available Gemini model in a Workspace Session and work with the Project’s context and tools. Model choices and features follow your account settings and usage rates.

Can every Gemini account add a custom app?

Gemini custom-app availability follows Google’s current account and region requirements. Check the official guide, or choose the native Workspace model route or a suitable Gemini CLI configuration.

Can Gemini save work in my cloud Project?

Native Workspace Sessions can save supported outputs in their Project. A connected Gemini client can use the Workspace tools you authorize to create saved results and a useful handoff.
