A practical Workspace guide
Keep ChatGPT. Build on the work.
Give ChatGPT a Clanker Workspace when the task needs a home for source files, finished reports, and the next round of work. Connect your account through the hosted MCP server, use ChatGPT to prepare the deliverable, and keep the checked output in its Project. The work is there when you return or change assistants.

Put the result where the next task can find it
A weekly report is rarely the last task in a client engagement. The next request may ask what changed, which decision is still open, or where the latest version lives. Use a Clanker Project to hold the brief, source notes, reporting instructions, and saved output that answer those questions.
ChatGPT remains your assistant. Through the connection it can use the Workspace tools you permit to read sources and save work. Open Workspace to inspect the actual files and the task record, then use that checked material for the next update.
Add Workspace as a custom MCP plugin
Sign in to Workspace first. In ChatGPT, open Plugins, use the plus button, and choose Add custom MCP server. Give the connection a recognizable name and enter https://workspace.clankercloud.ai/mcp. Configure OAuth and complete the Workspace browser authorization.
Create it as a plugin, review the discovered tools, and select the plugin with @ in a new conversation. Account and organization policies determine whether this setup is available. A chat that can only open public web pages cannot access your private Project; it needs an authorized connection or a separate supported HTTP execution route.

Give ChatGPT the reporting packet
Create a Project with a client brief, dated meeting notes, and a milestone sheet. Specify the audience and reporting period in its instructions. For a first trial, use the fictional evaluation pack linked below.
Ask ChatGPT to find the Project and read its files before drafting. A summary of filenames is not a review of their contents. Check that it can identify the reporting period, completed work, and any missing or contradictory dates.
Make the report useful outside the chat
Request a saved report with progress, blockers, decisions, and next actions. Keep an evidence file or source references close to the consequential claims. A date proposed in meeting notes should not become an approved client commitment.
| Input | Saved result | Acceptance check |
|---|---|---|
| Brief, notes, and milestones | weekly-update.md | Correct period, status, and missing facts. |
| Material dates and commitments | report-evidence.csv | A source behind each consequential claim. |
| The checked report and unresolved items | handoff.md | Current filenames and what the next task should resolve. |
Keep a visible record of the task
For file changes, ChatGPT must use the live managed Session workflow: start the task, retain sessionId, keep public progress updated, read back the saved result, and complete the Session. Read-only discovery can happen before a task Session starts.
Use Workspace Sessions to watch the recorded progress and open the output. Take over ends the task and disconnects the MCP connection. If you want the assistant to resume after that, provide fresh authorization; an inactive task should not silently restart.

Make one correction, then reuse the Project
Ask ChatGPT to revise the saved report after a date or owner changes. It should read the current file and source versions, preserve unresolved facts, and tell you where the revised output is saved. Inspect the whole deliverable for stale text.
In a later conversation, ask it to read handoff.md and the current inputs. A connected Claude client can use the same deliberately saved context. Native ChatGPT Projects and Clanker Projects remain separate products; their private chats and files do not merge automatically.
Check the connection before repeating the action
If the plugin exposes an old tool list after a server update, refresh its metadata and start a new conversation as the official setup guide describes. Confirm the Project, available tools, and permissions before requesting the task again.
For an uncertain save or command, inspect the existing file or job before retrying. ChatGPT model usage stays with OpenAI; Clanker-hosted work and compute use Clanker credits. Edit permission is needed for file changes, execution permission is additional for hosted commands, and billing permission is separate from this reporting task.
Give your assistant its first Workspace task.
Copy into ChatGPT with your Workspace connection enabled. Opening ChatGPT does not send the prompt automatically.
Before you use the result.
- The Workspace plugin is selected in the ChatGPT conversation.
- The report uses the actual Project files and reporting period.
- The saved deliverables exist and can be opened in Workspace.
- A correction updates the saved report and its handoff consistently.
Common questions.
Why give ChatGPT a Clanker Workspace?
Use it for work that should leave reusable Project files and a result you can inspect outside the conversation. Your connected ChatGPT assistant can use permitted Workspace tools while you keep the reporting packet, revisions, and handoff together.
Is this the same as a ChatGPT Project?
No. A Clanker Project holds work in Clanker Workspace, reached through your authorized connection. Native ChatGPT Projects have their own context and controls. Nothing automatically merges the private contents of the two services.
Can a ChatGPT conversation with only web browsing use my private Workspace?
No. Reading public instructions is not authentication. Use an available custom MCP plugin with browser authorization, or a separately supported terminal or HTTP execution route from the live agent guide.
Does saving a report require billing access?
No. Billing permission is separate. A file-writing task needs the relevant read and edit permissions and a managed Session. Hosted commands need execution access as well. Review the current permission guide when the task changes.
