A practical Workspace guide
Prepare a management review people can check.
Bring dated business exports, metric definitions, and operating notes into a Clanker Project. Ask for a management brief and a supporting table that connects each number to its source. Reconcile the totals and review the decisions before sharing the pack.
Start with $20 in included credits. See usage and plans.
Define the reporting period and units
Write the period start and end, the source update date, and the units for every metric. A pipeline amount, an invoiced amount, and a received payment describe different events. Do not combine them simply because each column contains currency.
Supply an approved comparison period if you want a change calculation. Ask the Agent to flag missing history instead of calling the first supplied month an improvement.
Keep a small reconciliation table
A fictional operations pack has 24 delivered tasks, four still open, and two open tasks with no owner. The review should retain the unassigned items rather than silently allocating them.
| Measure | Check against the source |
|---|---|
| Delivered tasks | Count the records with the agreed delivered status. |
| Open tasks | Exclude cancelled items under the stated rule. |
| Unassigned open tasks | Show missing owners as a management question. |
Separate the scorecard from the explanation
Request a table containing metric, definition, value, period, source, and caveat. Ask for a short brief with observations, risks, and decisions required. Keep causal explanations labeled as hypotheses unless the packet supports them.
For example, a later delivery date does not establish why a team fell behind. Record the observed change, cite any supplied explanation, and list what remains unknown.
Check the saved pack before the meeting
Open the saved brief and table in Preview. Recalculate the most consequential counts from the export and check that a label has not changed between the chart and the prose.
If you repeat the task, save the definitions and format in Project instructions. Test another period before adding a Schedule. Exports remain snapshots; a recurring task still needs fresh inputs or a verified connection.
Try it with a small example.
Copy into a Workspace Session. Opening Workspace does not send it automatically.
Before you use the result.
- Metrics use the same definitions and period throughout.
- Important totals reconcile to the supplied export.
- Observations and hypotheses are distinguishable.
Common questions.
Is an uploaded spreadsheet a live business dashboard?
No. It is a snapshot of the supplied data. State its export date and refresh the input when the review needs current figures.
Can I produce a report if some departments have not supplied data?
You can prepare a partial pack if the missing sources and affected metrics remain explicit. Do not treat an absent department as zero or present a partial total as complete.
When should I schedule the review workflow?
After a manual run produces a checked result and you know how each new period’s inputs will arrive. Define missing-source behavior, the reviewer, timing, and a usage budget before repeating it.
