Prepare a Sales Discovery Pack for Your Consultancy with AI

Use Clanker Workspace to prepare a prospect brief, discovery questions, and an initial meeting plan from permitted research and your consultancy's service menu.

Before a first call, a consultant often has a short inquiry and a few public pages. That is enough to prepare useful questions, but rarely enough to diagnose the prospect's whole business. Good preparation keeps what you know separate from what the conversation should establish.

Clanker Cloud Workspace can organize the inquiry, permitted research, and your service descriptions in a prospect Project. Ask an Agent for a concise brief and a question set that helps you understand the job before proposing it.

Start with the prospect's actual request

Save the inquiry and identify its date. Add your current service menu and a note explaining the call's length and purpose. If research is needed, specify the public sources or available tools the Agent may use and keep links with its findings.

For a fictional consultancy, begin with these notes:

Prospect: Harbor Goods, fictional wholesaler.
Inquiry: our staff spend time preparing order-status updates.
Provided website excerpt: wholesale ordering and phone support.
No order-system name or integration details supplied.
Call: 30 minutes to understand the current process.
Our services: process review, workshop, recommendations memo.
Implementation is a separate engagement.

This packet supports questions about how updates are prepared. It does not establish the number of staff involved, the software used, or a measured cost for the work.

Prepare the pack with traceable assumptions

Use a Session in the prospect Project:

Prepare prospect-brief.md and discovery-questions.md.
Use the inquiry, supplied source material, and service menu.
Separate confirmed facts, interpretations, and unknowns.
Identify the source for each factual claim.

Group questions by current process, inputs, exceptions,
ownership, success criteria, and constraints.
For each question, explain what the answer will help decide.
Add a 30-minute call plan. Do not invent their software,
budget, headcount, urgency, or expected savings.
Do not contact the prospect or create a proposal yet.

Open the brief and check its factual coverage. A useful version says that the prospect reported manual status preparation. It should not announce that their order software lacks an API or that automating the task will save a specific number of hours.

Ask questions that lead to an appropriate engagement

For Harbor Goods, useful questions include where an update starts, which records it uses, what needs human judgment, and who handles exceptions. Ask how the prospect would recognize a useful first improvement and which systems or data the team may access.

Link each question to a decision. The source of the status data affects feasibility. Exception frequency affects how much of the workflow needs a person. The person who approves access affects what a pilot can actually include.

Keep the discussion grounded in the services you offer. A process review can map those facts without promising implementation before the systems and requirements are understood.

Review research as a source, not a diagnosis

When using public research, keep dates and direct links. Check the page behind important claims, especially when the business has several locations, divisions, or similarly named companies. A public description of an online store does not prove how its internal order process runs.

Ask the Agent to flag conflicting material and missing dates. Keep personal or account-specific information out of the reusable consultancy role unless the particular task needs it and access is appropriate.

The research brief workflow explains evidence registers and separating observations from conclusions. Use that method when the prospect's packet becomes large enough to require a deeper review.

Use the call to replace assumptions with facts

After the call, save notes identifying what the prospect confirmed, what remains unknown, and what next step was agreed. Ask the Agent to update the brief with those changes and retain the earlier version.

Do not let a suggested question become a recorded client answer. If the call did not establish a budget or owner, keep it open. If the next step is a proposal, use the discovery-notes proposal workflow with approved commercial inputs.

A reusable Discovery Agent can follow your qualification method and meeting structure. Each prospect Project supplies the current inquiry and evidence. Test it with a deliberately sparse inquiry to check whether it asks useful questions instead of inventing detail.

Begin in business Workspace with one inquiry. The useful deliverable is a pack that makes the call more focused and leaves you better equipped to decide whether the engagement fits.
